Author Bae: Modern Renaissance Woman

Hi, Leticia! Can you tell us about yourself and what led you down the path of writing and entrepreneurship?

Hey there! I'm Leticia Davis, a 42-year-old single mom of two. After spending quite some time in the corporate world, I decided to chase my entrepreneurial dreams in April 2023. But my journey took a significant turn a few years back after I emerged from a challenging 13-year marriage filled with toxicity and abuse. It was then that I realized the importance of self-love and embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing, all guided by my unwavering faith.

That's quite a journey, Leticia. So, how long have you been writing, and what sparked the idea for your book, "Broken Pieces Restored"?

Well, writing is a relatively recent endeavor for me. The idea for "Broken Pieces Restored: Creating a Stronger Bond Within" came to me while I was watching a video by the motivational speaker Tony Gaskins. He said, "Turn your mess into a message," and that really hit home. It made me realize that my experiences could be a source of comfort and guidance for others. The whole process, from the concept to publishing, took about a year.

It's amazing how a simple message can spark such powerful change. Who did you have in mind when you wrote your book, and what's the big message you hope everyone takes away?

When I was writing "Broken Pieces Restored," my main audience in mind was people going through challenges similar to what I faced, especially those struggling with self-worth and love in relationships. The big message I want to get across is crystal clear: Know your worth, lean on a higher power, and prioritize self-love. I hope that my story can inspire readers to understand that profound change comes from within.

Becoming an author is a big deal. How has this new chapter in your life impacted your journey so far?

Authoring "Broken Pieces Restored" has been a game-changer. It's reshaped how I see things. It not only allowed me to share my experiences but also turned my adversities into valuable lessons for others. It lit a fire under my entrepreneurial ambitions, pushing me into real estate and the salon industry.

Selling that first copy must have been a memorable moment. How did you feel when that happened?

Selling that first copy was like a rollercoaster of emotions. Joy, pride, and even a bit of disbelief. Realizing that my story was reaching others and potentially making a difference in their lives was incredibly fulfilling.

It's not easy to silence our fears and take bold steps. What's been your secret to conquering fear and moving forward as an author?

My unwavering faith has been my anchor through it all. When doubt or fear crept in, I turned to my spiritual beliefs, reminding myself of the greater purpose and positive impact my story could have. My past challenges only fueled my determination and reinforced my resilience.

For those who dream of writing a book but let fear hold them back, what's your advice?

To anyone out there with the dream of writing a book but plagued by fear, I'd say embrace those fears. They're often a sign that you're on the verge of something great. Every story is unique and impactful, and your perspective might be the comfort someone desperately needs. Always remember that transforming experiences into a written tale can be therapeutic for the author and an empowering beacon for countless readers.

I co-launched a real estate company with like-minded friends in 2022 and took the lead in pioneering a venture in the salon industry in 2023. These endeavors are a testament to the transformative power of my book. It's more than just a memoir; it represents resilience, ambition, and the transformative power of self-belief. My ultimate goal is to use my narrative as a foundation for growth and empowerment, continuously inspiring, enlightening, and fostering collaborations.
